Forest Sector Event Highlights Economic
Opportunities in Oregon (5/18/04)
A recent symposium in Portland highlighted opportunities for Oregon's
forest sector to enhance its contributions to Oregon's economy while
preserving the state's environmental commitments. An economic study
unveiled at the event shows
the potential for creation of thousands
of new jobs if sustainable
harvests are increased.
The
symposium was co-sponsored by the Oregon Forest Resources Institute, the
Oregon Department of Forestry, the OSU College of Forestry and the World
Forestry Center.
